Friday 7 May 2010 - Remembering the Moments

K and I both took leave to celebrate our fifth year anniversary and although he had booked a pretty swanky restaurant, I suggested we spend the day just doing the simple yet memorable stuff. For one I didn't think we needed to spend so much to commemorate a special day, and two that dough could pretty well be used across the entire day. And you know what, I think we had such a great (and pretty much a sunny) day - just taking it easy and doing what we liked to do.

Lunch at 'Beach Road Prawn Mee'
(Located along East Coast Road)

After dropping Claire off at school, we headed to the east.

This is probably one of my favourite prawn mee stalls. The other two being one actually at beach road itself and the other at adam road hawker centre. The good part about eating early (before noon) on a friday afternoon, it was easy to get a table and K was able to wash and vacuum his car at the Caltex station opposite! The bad: I think the quality has dropped. Prawns were disappointly small as well. Nevertheless it's the company that made it a plus.

370 East Coast Road

This one has since expanded to occupy two shop space, and one of the stalls I frequent when I was staying at Siglap. Sadly it's getting a tad bit expensive - a medium sized bowl costing $8.80. The ngoh hiang's pretty good too.

At The Movies

After going by for some groceries at Siglap Centre, and paying my aunt a visit, we went down to Cineleisure Orchard for a movie. I was actually hoping to catch Sex And The City 2 but alas it wasn't out. And we caught Iron Man 2 in the end. It was ok - not bad, but not fantastic. Ok. I slept a little in between, amidst all the fighting... That's a blurry shot taken with my Nokia.

At The Farm - FarmArt
(67 Sungei Tengah Road)

The day would not be complete without Claire. Which day is. That's the kind of parents we are I suppose - we find it difficult to not have our sweet daughter around.

So we googled and found a farm in ulu Lim Cho Kang. We picked Claire after the movie and headed far west. I was personally pretty excited about visiting a farm. But sadly it was pretty disappointing with a handful of animals to thrill - turtles, frogs, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs and fish. But as with most little kids, Claire was still delighted seeing these animals - as she always is most days. I always thank God for such a happy child.

Word of caution: If you have high expectations of a farm, then please don't visit this one.

Gusttimo for Ice Cream

After we had roamed all over the island, we ended as always back in town and at Ion for a quick sushi dinner and ice-cream. I had promised Claire we would go somewhere she wanted - I asked 'MacDonalds or Ice-Cream?' and her answer was immediate (a couple of times over the past week too). I was looking for a Haagen Dazs though - is there one at Orchard? A proper cafe, not take-away. (The nearest I could think of was Centrepoint... Hmm).

And what better way to end a lovely day than with wonderful people at our Small Group.
We tabao-ed heaps of Old Chang Kee too. :)
