I chanced upon an article online and thought how interestingly it summed up Singapore. While its header reads 'Singapore Security Motto: Be As One' and largely expounded on Singapore's home security and system within which it aims and (seemingly) successfully counters terrorism and all related foreign and internal crimes, I was more pleased with some of the key positives points this foreign article picked up of Singapore.
What Singapore has achieved and what is tested and retested day and night is light-years beyond what is possible in the United States without incurring the wrath of civil libertarians. But Singaporeans, almost 5 million, are remarkably self-disciplined in a seamless cultural, ethnic and religious amalgam of Malay, Chinese, Indian and European influences.
More than 10 million tourists a year descend on the world's most important city-state, which is also the world's top container port. With two new major resort areas, 30 million visitors are expected by 2015. Singapore Airways was the first to buy the 550-passenger Airbus 380. The city's huge hub airport puts every major U.S. airport to shame.
Today Singapore celebrates its 45th year of independence and as a Singaporean, I am proud of all the successes my country has achieved. No doubt credit be to good and brilliant leaders but more than not, thanks and praise be to God.

Thank You Lord for blessing Singapore with years of peace and prosperity. Thank You God for a nation that we can be so proud of and where its citizen are able to live harmoniously and where opportunities abound for all. Most importantly thank You for a homeland where we can openly worship and praise You.
Happy 45th Birthday Singapore!
